A beautiful home raises the spirit of everyone who lives there. Good design enhances one’s aesthetic intelligence. It truly enriches one’s life.

My goal as a designer is to create “feel good rooms”…. Rooms that draw you in… rooms that stimulate and inspire. The sum total of everything in the room should feel like a symphony.

For me, the most important rule of design is consistency. When every room is a different color and every bathroom uses different materials, there is chaos. Consistency of materials and wall color have a calming effect psychologically.

Building a house from the ground up is a privilege. It allows for total consistency. My favorite place for this to happen is the floor. A consistent floor makes a strong architectural statement, especially when the floor material is stone or terrazzo. This way the floor can flow uninterruptedly into the shower without needing a curb!
